Being a native of Kansas, I spent many days sitting next to the radio listening to Royals games and the holidays sitting in front of the old wooden TV watching the Chiefs with my grandfather. There is very little wonder that despite the overwhelming and suffocating tide of San Diego fans in the valley, I remain loyal to my Kansas City teams through thick and thin, and yes, there is whole lot of thin.
So, for all you Chargers fans out there, I just wanted to let you know I was empathizing with you this past Monday night – sort of . . .
What in the world does this have to do with RMGs? Nothing really, except that this past Monday night was not so much about the game – albeit a great game – as it was about spending time with friends we have reconnected with through our RMG.
Let’s be honest, we are all running 95 miles an hour trying to juggle work, family, church, friends and some fun. We are stressed and tired.
But, as I sat in my leather recliner eating football food and enjoying yet another Charger turnover, I realized that through our RMG, the juggling act that I try to live had come together. Work was over, I was with family and friends in the Body, and it was definitely fun – for me at least.
As I shared a couple of months ago, we are commanded to gather as part of the Body, so being part of an RMG or another discipleship is really about being obedient to the Lord.
And, as I experienced this past week, the obedience has purpose. It really is great to experience the fruits of it in your life and in your relationships. That’s when you begin to understand the wisdom of our Lord and His commands to us.
